Functional gastrointestinal disorders are among the most common chronic disorders in children worldwide, including Mexico. Pediatric gastroenterology includes a broad spectrum of illnesses. The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is among the largest of its kind in the world, with patient care and outcomes and among the best globally and is consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top pediatric programs in the United States. From June 12-14, 2023, the OMI MEX CHOP seminar in Pediatric Gastroenterology welcomed outstanding OMI CHOP faculty to Mexico City, educating 32 pediatric gastroenterologists, general pediatricians, and family physicians from Mexico, Colombia, and Honduras.
